Swim With Moorea’s Majestic Humpback Whales!
Every year, between July and early November, many marine mammals, including humpback whales, migrate to the Pacific Ocean, and particularly to French Polynesia. This is one of the only destinations in the world where you can observe them in their natural environment. It’s a unique opportunity to admire them. On this trip, we also see bottlenose dolphins, pilot whales and pelagic sharks. Join us for the experience of a lifetime!
After whale watching, we end the tour by snorkeling in the lagoon with stingrays and blacktip reef sharks. This activity takes place on a shallow sandbank in the lagoon, where you can stand upright as the water is only waist-deep. It’s accessible to all ages, with no special physical requirements.
During the tour with lunch, you’ll have the chance to take your time and swim in the coral garden on arrival at the islet or after lunch.

- This activity can be quite physically demanding, requiring the ability to swim and to use snorkeling equipment effectively, fins, mask and snorkel. We therefore ask you to be in good physical shape and comfortable swimming in the deep blue ocean.
- People suffering from motion sickness may become ill at sea. As soon as the tour starts, we cannot go back to the island to drop people with seasickness. We advise you to take precautions (dramamine tablet, etc.) before the tour. Please consult your pharmacist.
- We do not have toilets on board. We therefore ask you to take precautions before the tour.

This year’s approach rules limit the number of people in the water to preserve and respect the animals. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that you will swim with a whale during your excursion. Why can’t we? We don’t choose to swim with a humpback whale, it chooses to swim with us. We are talking about a truly wild animal, in the open ocean, with the weather having a major impact too.
- The maximum number of people allowed in the water is 7, including the guide. Our guide will authorize the launch only after checking that weather conditions and animal behavior are favorable.
- There is a maximum safety distance of 100 meters between the boat and the group. You’ll need to swim 100 meters or more, depending on the whales’ behavior.
- Regulations require us to swim long distances to approach the animals discreetly.

- It is mandatory to wear a flotation device. We provide life jackets that are best suited for snorkeling and comply with regulations.
- Alternatively, you can wear a neoprene wetsuit with a minimum thickness of 3mm if you do not wish to wear a life jacket.
